If there’s anything that matches America’s obsession with getting fit, it’s the nation’s affinity for the latest technology. And with so many that now own an iPhone, iPad, Amazon Kindle, or Android phone, that technology is literally just a download away.

In fact, one CNN survey estimates that as many as 35 percent of people use an app on their mobile device even before they get out of bed in the morning.

Naturally, many companies have tried to use this platform to merge the two interests. Just one quick Google search of “fitness apps” will likely leave you with what academics call “information overload”—too much, too quickly.

So how do you navigate the confusing world of workout apps and choose one that matches your interests and fitness goals? And even if you find one you like, how can you be sure it’s available on your device?

Well, the latter problem is simple. An iPhone unlocker will free your iPhone and allow you access to thousands of additional apps you didn’t have before. And if you own a Droid, that network has done a respectable job of creating apps that imitate the ones in the Apple store. If you have a tablet of some kind, you can even see some overlap there.

But back to fitness apps—which are the best? This is a look at 10 ideas to get your started. These apps address everything from the simple desire to turn your phone into a fitness trainer to a companion for your backpacking adventures. Check out some of these, or let them be a springboard to help you find what you’d really like.

1. Go Pedometer

Starting out with the simple, Go Pedometer is handy little app that counts your steps as well as measures distance, time, calories burned per hour, and average speed.

It seems like there are fewer and fewer hours in the day; either that or your schedule is getting busier. With the never ending list of things to do every day, it is a miracle that anyone ever finds time to go to the gym and workout.

If you feel like you are too busy to get to the gym for a decent workout, do not worry. Physical activity should be a very important part of your day, every day, but you don’t necessarily have to go “workout” at the gym to burn calories. Here are a few ways that you can fit some calorie burning into even the busiest schedule.

Be Active at Lunch

Rather than sitting at your desk or at the lunchroom table for your entire lunch break, try going for a walk around the building (inside or outside), or walking the stairs. You could even plan a simple twenty minute routine that you can do somewhere private (you can close your office door or go to a park nearby).

Being active at lunch is a great way to break up your day as well. With a little physical activity at lunch, you will be more able to sit at your desk for the rest of your day, get more done, and be in a better mood with all of those endorphins being released.

Supplements Can Help

There are many weight loss supplements that have been shown to help you burn calories and lose weight. The best way to get maximum benefit from your supplement is to combine it with exercise. However, many weight loss supplement users have reported a decrease in their weight and waistline even without physical activity.

If you decide that a weight loss supplement that can help a busy person like you lose weight, the website weightlosswand.com is a great resource for research to help you pick a supplement that will work for you. Don’t just take any supplement – research different pills to be sure that you take one that can actually help you burn calories.

Break it Up

There is no rule that says you have to do all of your physical activity at one time. Studies have shown that breaking up your physical activity into a few shorter sessions can be just as effective as one long exercise session.

You can wake up just fifteen minutes earlier than normal and go for a short walk. Riding your bike to work, even if it only takes you twenty minutes to ride there, is a great way to add some physical activity to your day. You could also take breaks at work in order to perform a short exercise routine.

Burn it Up!

The key to weight loss is burning more calories than you take into your body. Adding these few simple things to your busy schedule can help burn those extra calories that are finding their way onto your waistline and hips. Burning a few extra calories though out your day doesn’t have to take a ton of effort, just consistency.

Those of us who are trying to lose weight know how important exercise is. Once you find an activity that that works for your life, it is hard to imagine spending workout time doing anything else. Perhaps the single most frustrating thing about exercise is the inevitable sports-related injury that seems to creep into the plan.

These injuries might have you out for a week, a month, or even a year, depending on the severity. To avoid the aggravation of an injury that will slow your weight loss plan, there is one major element of exercise to make sure to include in your plan: cross training. Cross training is also a fantastic way to burn calories faster and keep you mentally engaged.

Cross Training and Weight Loss

When you spend all of your exercise time on one activity, your body starts to become more efficient at that activity. In order to get the most weight loss benefits from exercise, it is crucial to mix up the exercise that you perform in order to keep your muscles primed and ready for any activity. Cross training is fantastic because it allows you to push your body in different ways so that you can burn an optimal amount of calories.

How Injuries Happen

The vast majority of sports injuries occur as a result of overuse. This is why terms like “tennis elbow,” “jumper’s knee,” and “runner’s knee” were coined. In both instances, injury occurs as a result of repetitive motion that eventually causes a breakdown of soft tissue and resulting pain.

If you have been exercising to lose weight and have been sticking with the same activity, you really want to rethink your plan so that your body stays completely healthy. Make sure to mix up how you exercise so you can give your soft tissue a break from the grind of repetition.

Humans are creatures of habit, so it can be really difficult to try new activities, but if you consider that focusing your effort on a different sport is an investment in your overall health, you can start to appreciate cross training more.

The Mental Benefit of Cross Training

Exercise can be really difficult. Surprisingly, a lot of this boils down to your mental strength more than your physical strength. Doing the exact same activity day after day can become very difficult to do. It gets boring! And when exercise gets boring, you are much less likely to hit the gym. To make sure that your workouts are fresh and exciting, find activities that are exciting to you. If you love nature, mountain biking, hiking, or trail running might be fantastic options for you. If you love swimming, you can try underwater treadmills, water polo, or water aerobics. Your options are endless. There are a lot of different activities that you can try that will help incinerate calories, so explore! Make sure that your mind loves your workouts as much as your body.

Conclusion

When it comes to weight loss, exercise is essential. If you want to keep your workouts both physically and intellectually stimulating, make sure to add cross training to keep workouts interesting for both your body and mind. To lose weight faster, you can also add some of the best diet pills to suppress your appetite and increase your fat burn.

The market’s best diet pills can offer what you need to build more muscle mass and recover better from hard training sessions. This then leads to a higher metabolism and more calories burned each day.

It is not uncommon for even the most experienced exerciser to hit a training plateau. Results decline and workouts become boring. Training and weight loss plateaus are a very frustrating obstacle, but can be overcome.

If you aren’t seeing the results you want to be seeing, then it’s time to change things up. Here is a look at a few different ways to spice up your routine and start seeing results again.

Interval Training

Interval training can be two very intimidating words for many exercisers, but it’s really not as bad as some people make it seem. Interval training is when higher intensity periods of exercise are followed by lower intensity levels of exercise.

For example, when out for a run, rather than running at the same speed the entire time try interspersing periods of sprinting (or just running faster than normal) with periods of walking.

Some research suggests that interval training is actually better for heart function support and increasing your aerobic capacity. Interval training also burns more calories than longer, slow and sustained exercise because you are working out at a higher intensity.

Supplement

Weight loss supplements are always more effective when coupled with an exercise routine. They are not magic pills that will give you a rock star body over night, but they can definitely help you in a realistic sort of way by increasing the amount of calories burned during your work out.

African mango is one supplement that has been proven to help you burn more calories by raising your metabolism. The term metabolism generally refers to the amount of calories burned in order to sustain your daily activities. African mango can also help suppress your appetite and is a great source of fiber. With a higher metabolism and suppressed appetite, you will burn more calories during activity and at rest.

Mix it Up

Your body will stop responding and changing to a stale workout routine. Performing the same routine over and over will not only become boring for you, you will stop seeing results. It’s just like when you hear a sound that in annoying at first, but after a while you just get used to it and can even forget that it is there.

The same thing happens with your body. Your body gets used to the same workout routine to the point that it doesn’t have to adapt anymore (your body adapts by getting stronger, burning calories, and losing weight). It is very important that you change up your routine often to ensure that you are getting the most out of your workout routine.

Break the Plateau

A stale workout should be every person’s nightmare and does not burn many calories. Make now the time to start burning more calories! Mix up your routine and think about taking a supplement. These things can really amp up your caloric expenditure, smash through training plateaus, and help you reach your weight loss goals.

Do you have back flab reaching over the top of your shirt? Does your posture need improving? Do you have back pain at the end of every long day?

Whatever your reason for wanting to strengthen your upper and lower back muscles, you need these exercises. No workout routine is complete without them!

Pre-workout

If you really want to get the best results possible, then it might be a good idea, before you start any workout, to take a pre-workout supplement.

One supplement that may help you get the results that you want is Myotein. Myotein is a supplement that is highly recommended because it is safe and effective. Read Myotein reviews to learn more about this supplement.

Lat Pulldown

This exercise is easily done on a machine. Sit down at the machine with your legs underneath the leg rest. Grab the long pulldown bar with your hands just wider than shoulder width to start. Push your shoulder blades together and down while pulling the bar down towards your chest. Pause for just a second before carefully allowing the bar to return to starting position.

NEVER pull the bar behind your head – this can cause neck and shoulder problems and is not necessary to achieve the desired results. You can vary your hand width in order to mix up the exercise.

Seated Rows

This can be done on the machine designed for rows, or with an exercise band. At the machine, sit at the machine and grab the handles. If you are using an exercise band, wrap the band around something sturdy at just below shoulder height.

Keeping your shoulders down and your elbows by your side, pull the handles toward your chest. Also, as you pull the handles back, squeeze your shoulder blades together. Pause for just a second, and slowly return to your starting position.

Prone Scapular Stabilization Series

Start face down on an exercise mat, with your arms outstretched over your head. Be sure to keep your abdominals tightened and your shoulder blades pulled back and down throughout the entire exercise.

Lift your arms and upper body slightly off the floor – your arms should be straight above your head in an “I” position. Hold for just a second and then lower back to the floor. Repeat with your arms in a “Y”, “T”, “W”, and an “O” position. (Click the link for clarification and pictures.)

Glute Bridging

Start lying down on your back with your knees bent. Tighten your abdominal muscles and lift your hips off of the floor so that your body creates a sort of a bridge shape. Hold and then slowly return to your starting position. Click here for one way to make this exercise more difficult.

Get Working

These are a few exercises that you will want to incorporate into your back routine. These exercises will help you strengthen and tone those muscles in a way that will make your friends jealous. These will also help prevent back pain because your muscles will be able to handle the forces and stresses of everyday life.

Be sure to consult a physician before starting any exercise routine and if any of these exercises cause pain or discomfort, check your form or stop doing them.

You are told that carbs are bad, carbs are good, fruit is bad, etc. How can you make heads or tails out of any of this conflicting information?!

The truth is, while these strict rules and guidelines may work for some people, the basics on how to lose weight are just that… basic. Cutting calories, getting more exercise, and eating healthy!

Cutting calories doesn’t mean that you have to starve yourself. In fact, you can eat well and still lose weight if you follow these easy ways to cut calories.

Switch to Skim

You may have been enjoying 2% milk all your life, and you don’t see any real reason to change. Well, think about this: One cup of the higher fat version has 122 calories and almost 5 grams of fat. Skim racks up only 90 calories!

You can easily continue this swap through all of your much-loved dairy products. Ditching regular Yoplait for light can save over 70 calories.

Go for the Greens

When you are out to eat, or even before dinner at home, try starting the meal with a small salad. Filling up on your leafy greens before the main course is another easy way to cut calories.

Munching on salad before your meal could end up saving you from consuming 10% of your regular daily calories. That means in a typical 2000 calorie diet, you can save up to 200 calories!

Just make sure your salad isn’t loaded down with creamy dressings, piled with cheese, or buried under fried wontons.

Sip on Water

Soda has become a staple of American life. Many people actually drink more pop then water. Not only can this outrageous soda consumption leave you dehydrated, it can also fill you up with empty calories that may actually contribute to more mindless snacking.

Water has no calories. Swapping out just one can of Coke per day in favor of a glass of water will help you save 140 calories. In a week that number adds up to a staggering 980 calories saved with very little effort!

Baked Instead of Fried

One single serving bag of plain potato chips had over 230 calories and 15 grams of fat. The same bag of chips comes in at only 130 calories and 2 grams of fat if it is baked. That’s 100 calories saved!

You can even make your own potato chips or fries at home. Slice up a potato (make it a sweet potato for extra nutrition), sprinkle with your favorite spices, and bake. So simple and delicious!

Try a Diet Pill

Adding a quality weight loss pill to your day can also be a simple and easy way to cut back on calories. Many weight loss pills contain clinically proven ingredients that can actually help you eat less and burn more!

These fast weight loss pills can help you get one step closer to your ideal body!

Losing weight can seem like a mystery if you don’t understand how to do it properly. You’ve seen The Biggest Loser, you’ve tried all of the fad diets, and you’ve even joined a gym, but nothing has really helped you to figure out the looming question: how do you lose weight?

To help you unlock the riddle, we are going to give you a quick tutorial so you can know how weight loss really works.

Do Fad Diets Work?

A few years ago low-carb diets were all the rage. Today it’s hard to find restaurants with low-carb options because they have simply fallen out of vogue. This is because they don’t work over the long-run and quite frankly, they aren’t healthy. While on a low-carb diet, your body goes into a state called ketosis that actually can be classified as a starvation diet, which is not something you want to get involved in.

Other fad diets like juice fasts, soup diets, the “air” diet, or the 5-bite diet are really terrible for your body. They may give you short-time results, but they just aren’t healthy. If you come across a diet that claims to help you lose extreme amounts of weight in a short period of time, it just isn’t safe. The very first fad diet that we know of was the “Tapeworm Diet,” which works exactly how it sounds. No sensible person today would ingest a tapeworm to lose weight, so try to think of today’s fad diets as yesterday’s tapeworms. Ew!

If you aren’t convinced yet, here is some information that might change your mind. Studies have shown that people who lose weight very quickly are very likely to gain it all back. What good is a diet that won’t last? If you want to invest in long-term health, spend your money on some good workout shoes that you can use with your gym membership.

A Lesson in Addition and Subtraction

Believe it or not, weight loss really is a matter of simple math that a third grader could handle. The basic idea is really simple: Calories eaten must be less than calories burned throughout the day.

If you want to lose weight, you need to create a calorie deficit that will force your body to metabolize your fat stores, which will result in weight lost. To find out how many calories you burn each day, follow one of these formulas to find your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate):

Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) – ( 4.7 x age in years )

Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) – ( 6.8 x age in year )

Every time you exercise, figure out how many calories you have burned (you can search the internet to find out how many calories are burned in different activities) and just add that number to your BMR.

For example, if I were a 170lb, 5’5”, 50 year-old female, my BMR would be 1465. This means that my body requires 1465 calories just to maintain my weight if I were to lie in bed all day long. But if I went and walked for 30 minutes (about 200 calories burned), I could eat 200 more calories without losing or gaining weight. If I wanted to lose weight, I should make sure to eat fewer than 1465 calories.

After following this diet for a few weeks, you should start to see some changes on the scale. Make sure to stick with your low-calorie diet and exercise regularly to speed the process of weight loss. This is a tried and true weight loss method that will work for anyone.

Help Yourself Out

If you want to lose weight a little faster and easier, you can try some top-rated diet pills like Appedex to help suppress your appetite and also burn calories throughout the entire day. Make sure to read about Appedex side effects to find out if it is an option for you while you diet.

Used for centuries by the people of Cameroon Africa as a dietary staple, the fruit of the Irvingia Gabonensis tree has made its way into Western medicine and into the realm of dietary supplements.

Referred to by Dr. Oz as the “miracle in your medicine cabinet,” the fruit of the Irvingia Gabonensis tree, commonly referred to as African Mango, takes an all-inclusive approach to weight loss and its health-improving benefits.

What are the Benefits of Irvingia Gabonensis?

Appetite Suppression:

The extract of the African Mango is known to be able to restore Leptin sensitivity. Leptin is a protein hormone that plays a large role in letting the body know when it’s had enough to eat. When people become overweight, their bodies become less sensitive to Leptin and therefore less able to tell when they’re full.

This is where African Mango extract comes in. The extract contains substances that lower Leptin production so in turn the body’s threshold lowers as well. With a lower Leptin threshold, the body is better able to recognize the release of Leptin and in turn feel full sooner while eating.

Restoring Leptin sensitivity also keeps the body feeling more full in between and after meals so you’re less likely to fall victim to mindless eating and food cravings.

Lowers Cholesterol:

It may seem too good to be true, but African Mango extract actually has the ability to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. To do so, African Mango increases the body’s amount of black bile by binding to the bile cells.

As more and more bile cells become occupied, the body triggers the process to produce more. With more black bile being produced, more cholesterol can be broken down and expelled than ever before.

Lowers Blood Sugar Levels:

African Mango Extract has also proven to regulate blood sugar levels and decrease insulin spikes after eating. Typically, insulin levels spike after a meal because blood sugar levels spike after a meal. However, African Mango extract helps the body process dietary sugars and use them for energy rather than leave them in the blood stream to be stored as body fat.

African Mango Supplements

Due to these incredible health-improving effects, African Mango has been incorporated into hundreds of new and upcoming dietary supplements that range in purpose from weight loss to heart health to cholesterol regulators.

If you’d like to try an African Mango supplement it’s important to keep in mind that African Mango (or Irvingia Gabonensis) needs to be present in at least 150mg in order to have an effect on your health. Check product labels before purchasing and make sure the supplement you’re thinking about is going to give you your money’s worth.

African Mango has the potential to greatly aid in weight loss and health improvement endeavors but you need to make sure you’re choosing a quality product that is backed by clinical testing and scientific research.

Are you the type of person that likes to make people laugh?

Do you pride yourself on your sense of humor and enjoy inside jokes with your friends?

Or maybe you are the type who wants everyone to know what they are all about.

You have an attitude and you are opinionated and you don’t care who knows it.

How do you express yourself?

Make an Impression

What the first thing you use to judge a person? Their physical appearance. Before they even open their mouth, you notice their hair, face, and their clothing. What do your clothes say about you? Do they communicate that you are just like everyone else?

The easiest way to make the right impression is to design a t-shirt that will tell the world who you are and what you like without saying a word.

Getting Started

Making a silkscreen design can be challenging and time consuming, and there is no guarantee that what you get back from the screen-printing shop will look anything like the image you had in mind. The most effective, efficient, and affordable way to get the design you want.

There are several websites that sell funny t-shirts, but these aren’t necessarily the best option for you if you want something truly customized. The best websites will have options for you to put your own content on your apparel, or will at least give you hundreds of options and let you add your own text.

Get Creative

This is the fun part. After you have found the best site, you can customize just about anything. Don’t limit yourself to just a t-shirt. What else do you want to be completely unique? Your hoodie? Your pillowcase? You can even make custom underwear.

Chances are, once you start thinking about making custom apparel and accessories, you will find inspiration everywhere. You will see a funny video on the internet, find a quote you love, or remember an old school mascot. The possibilities are limitless.

Conclusion

There are hundreds of ways you can personalize your appearance, but customized apparel is unique in that you can change it every day, and express yourself on a daily basis.

Are you feeling sarcastic today? Try that snarky t-shirt. Feeling quirky? Grab your messenger bag with that obscure “Dr. Who” quote. You can’t go wrong.

If suspect that you or someone you love might be struggling with anorexia, then you should be aware of the warning signs for anorexia.

Feelings and Actions

Common feelings and actions that are linked to anorexia nervosa include:

Having an intense fear of gaining weight.

Restricting food or types of food, such as food that contains any kind of fat or sugar.

Weighing less than 85% of your expected body weight. (In a child or teen, losing or not gaining weight during a growth spurt is a concern.)

Seeing your body as overweight, in spite of being underweight. This is called having a distorted body image.
Exercising too much.

Being secretive around food and not recognizing or wanting to talk about having a problem with eating or weight loss.

Some people who have anorexia also make themselves vomit or use laxatives or diuretics to lose weight (bulimia). Breakdown of the enamel on the teeth is a common symptom of long-term vomiting.

Physical signs

Common physical signs of malnutrition from anorexia include:3

A low body weight.

Constipation and slow emptying of the stomach.

Thinning hair, dry skin, and brittle nails.

Shrunken breasts.

Stopping or never getting a monthly menstrual period.

Feeling cold, with a lower-than-normal body temperature.

Low blood pressure.

Food rituals

People who have anorexia often form rituals associated with eating. These may include:

Developing special ways to eat food, hoarding food, collecting recipes, and preparing elaborate meals for other people but not eating the meals themselves.

Spending a lot of time cutting and rearranging food on their plates to make it look as though they have eaten. They may also hide food or secretly get rid of it during meals.

Suicidal feelings

In some cases, people who have eating disorders can feel suicidal.

Warning signs of possible suicide in children and teens can include making suicide threats, being preoccupied with death or suicide, giving away belongings, withdrawing, being angry, or having failing grades.

Warning signs and possible triggers of suicide in adults can include making suicide threats, alcohol or substance abuse, depression, giving away belongings, a recent job loss, or divorce.

If someone you know shows warning signs of suicide, make sure that the person is not left alone. Seek help from a mental health professional immediately.

If you are having suicidal thoughts, talk to someone about it. Call a local suicide hotline, your local health department, the national suicide hotline (1-800-273-TALK or 1-800-273-8255), or seek help at a local hospital emergency room.
